:: Welcome to the Three Peaks Challenge ::

The National Three Peaks Challenge of climbing the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) is often attempted within a continuous 24 hour period, although many people will take a more relaxed approach.

This 3 mountain challenge includes 25 miles of hiking (depending upon route choice), some 450 miles of driving, with a total climb of over 10,000 feet. Remember you still need to get to the start at Fort William, and home from the finish at Llanberis. Each of the three peaks has it's own particular difficulties - click the mountain links above for much more detailed information.

Many people use this 3 peaks challenge as a charity fundraising event, and the route and mountains become very busy during late June, as this offers the best amount of daylight - so consider planning your challenge before or after this month..! Check the 'Roads' section for full challenge route details, and the 'Transport' page for any help with vehicles and drivers for your three peaks challenge attempt (and also mountain guides and support).

Glen Nevis - start of your Three Peaks Challenge

Glen Nevis, Scotland - the start of your challenge.

You can either organise your own challenge event with some friends - using your own car or MPV, go with a Challenge Tour Company, or take part in a larger organised charity event.

Literally 1000's of people take part in the 3 Peaks each year, and during June and July, Wasdale and Seathwaite can be overwhelmed with visitors, many arriving in the early hours of the morning. Both areas have very few facilities, car parking space is limited, and both areas have residential properties and B&B's closeby, as well as campsites. Please be as quiet and thoughtful as posible, and respect the local area. Remove all rubbish, and use alternative motorway facilities where possible.

Take care to stick to the footpaths on Scafell Pike, and don't let your group be responsible for giving the Three Peaks Challenge a bad reputation. Make any other noisy teams aware of the local residential and B&B's, and encourage them to be considerate!

If you want to take part in a larger, friendly, organised event - but raise money for the charity or good cause of your own choice - check the Coleman Three Peaks Challenge..!

Although challenge information on this site is limited, please use the links to find useful help and advice from other sources. Information is also included regarding the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

Check the 'Events' page of the website for a calander of 3 Peaks Challenge events and training days in 2008. There is also a very useful forum which is kept up-to-date with the very latest challenge news - from roadworks to event details - with help and advice from previous challengers and also challenge event organisers. Click here for the forum.

This challenge makes a great team building event for middle and senior managers, is the ideal fundraising opportunity, and a well organised challenge can be great PR for any organisation.

For a more luxurious team challenge, check the Three Peaks Directors Challenge.
